Newletter march 2019

In God is my salvation and my glory,
the rock of my strength and my refuge is in God.

Conference

The Dutch conference with the 50-year anniversary of  St. Zending and Gemeente was a great week. It was a joy to see all the missionaries and hang out with the board; think through different themes and mostly to be before the Lord together. Grateful for the testimony of all these years, the Lord’s awesome works!! In an outing I got to translate a friend, Aad Peters, great to meet him again.

Finance
We finished last year with great concern over the heavy burden the government imposed on us. With deep gratitude I can tell you that we finished the year well, many heartfelt thanks for your prayers and financial support. In a conversation with a friend I discovered there are still people that think the expenses of our work are being paid for through some sort of foundation. That is not so. We do this with God’s and your help, so every day is really a miracle to see how is provided for all our needs.
We are also grateful for the recognition we received from the local social services, in their 20th anniversary, for our work among children and teens in need – a real surprise. Goodbyes and a new start
For six of our young people it is time to return to their families. The new schoolyear is commencing and we want them to get back into their own schools again. Very exciting for the three boys and girls who are leaving. But also, rather sad for the ones that stay. Especially the younger ones find it hard. Joseph never had bigger brothers looking out for him, and well, these ones are leaving now.
For George it wasn’t that simple to leave as he never had a safe place to live. Father used to beat mum and she in turn beat the children with anything she laid her hands on. So, the street very soon became his new home. We are so grateful we could have him live with us for a while. We saw him grow up into a kid with his own vision on life who wants to make the world a better place. Now he goes to a home in the area where he was born. Jesus goes with him, because He has a home in his heart.

Home again
After a first period of visiting and sharing in the U.K. I am home again. It was a precious time, meeting so many friends who really partner with us in the ministry. Now, together with Felina we are encouraging the plans for this year into the right direction. One of our challenges is update our rehabilitation model we use in both Adulam and Talita Cumi.

My challenge is to finish going through the English translation of my biography, hoping to get it in print this year. Personally, I also look forward to the coming visits to several detention centers. For all our work we count on your prayers and support, as a team we thank the Lord for the privilege to serve in the Him. On the picture the girls are praying before a presentation – they too know Whom they can ask for help!

Bye, with warm greetings, may the Lord bless you, Fineke and teams.
